Purpose
The Michigan Republican State Committee (“MRSC”) directs that the Nominating Convention of the delegated representatives of the Republican Party of Michigan be held on August 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, for the purpose to nominate:
The nomination of:
- One (1) Lieutenant Governor
The nomination of those previously endorsed for:
- One (1) Secretary of State
- One (1) Attorney General
- Two (2) Justices to the Michigan Supreme Court
- Two (2) members of the State Board of Education
- Two (2) members each for
- the Wayne State University Board of Governors
- the Michigan State University Board of Trustees
- the University of Michigan Board of Regents
The purpose of our county convention on August 13, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time is to elect delegates and alternates to the Nominating Convention.
Candidates who win their nominations will be on the November’2026 ballot. If a previous endorsement is overruled by a two-thirds vote at that convention, we will vote in a replacement for the nomination (unlikely).
Precinct Delegates, Alternates and guests will be charged $25 for admittance to the Nominating Convention ($50 if paying the day of the convention).
Delegate Nominations
Precinct delegates and certain at-large delegates given the preference under Rule 8a of the Convention Rules, but who do not attend the County Convention, must notify the Washtenaw County GOP Chair (Jason Rogers) in writing of the person’s intention to become a delegate or alternate delegate to the state convention.
The notification must be in written form — using this form, letter, or email — and must be received by the Washtenaw County GOP Chair by 4:00 PM on Aug. 12, 2026.
